Alcohol In Your Body

Head stuck in a bottle

  • Alcohol affects a person’s judgment and can lead to poor choices.
  • When a person drinks, they may say and do things they wouldn’t normally do.
  • When someone drinks alcohol, the alcohol goes to every cell in the body.
  • Alcohol slows down how the brain and body works. Even after drinking only a small amount of alcohol, people do not control the movement of their body very well.
  • When a person drinks too much, they often wake up feeling very sick.
  • People have less control over their feelings when they have been drinking and they also have less control over how they handle their feelings. For instance, they may get angry and have trouble controlling their temper.
  • Drinking too much can spoil friendships. When someone is drinking, it can have effects on their family as well. Some families argue more, some families don’t talk about it at all, and some families may keep secrets about how someone’s drinking effects them.
  • Drinking heavily over a long period of time can lead to serious health problems.
  • It is not safe for pregnant women to drink alcohol. When the mother is drinking, the baby gets the same amount of alcohol as she does.
